The Piercing Truth Magazine
The Piercing Truth, is a youth magazine, written by young people, for young people. The magazine is a 20 page full colour glossy and 1000 copies are available free at all Geelong Secondary Schools and youth venues.
The Piercing Truth conveys a positive view of young people and expresses individual opinions on a range of topics and issues they face as young residents of Geelong.
Young people 12-25 years old are able to submit articles, photos, games and reviews, or just fun incidental things to an editorial team of young people and workers. All articles are discussed regarding relevance and merit.
Articles in the future that may not make it into the magazine, will be posted on www.youthcan.vic.gov.au
This is the first issue of Piercing Truth Magazine, and will be followed by at least 2 more issues this year, one each season.

How do you do I submit and article to the Piercing Truth?
Just email your written article in Microsoft Word file. Or if you have a photo, email that as a jpg or tiff file on its own (it must be a good quality photo taken with a camera with 5 megapixels or over) toyouthcan@geelongcity.vic.gov.au (Look below for this seasons theme!!!).
Will my article/photo get published in the Piercing Truth?
Your article will get read by a committee of young people and youth workers, who will decide which articles get published. Articles cant discriminate against people or be offensive. Not all articles can be published (we only have 20 pages of room!), but if you miss out on being in the magazine, you may get you article or photo published online with ww.youthcan.vic.gov.au
WINTER THEME
Occassionaly we may have a theme for an edition of The Piercing Truth and for our Winter edition we have decided to have the theme 'POTATO'. Why? Because is a yummy winter (and all year round ) food and because 2008 is the International Year of the Potato.
"The celebration of the International Year of the Potato (IYP) will raise awareness of the importance of the potato - and of agriculture in general - in addressing issues of global concern, including hunger, poverty and threats to the environment.

June Update
The Piercing Truth is gearing up for its Winter/Spring Edition with contributions from Belmont Secondary College, Corio Bay Secondary College, Bellerine Secondary College and more. The current issue has seen many services ring and ask for more copies, and also to submit articles. The word is definately getting out about this great mag!
The Editorial committee will be visiting some magazine businesses over the school holidays to expand their knowledge in this field. Look forward to the Winter/Spring Issue being available late July/early August.
